RADIO MAKING THE FARMER A STAR

We listen to it in corner shops, cars, at work and at home—an entire audio world is open to us. Everything from pop music and ball-games to news and weather every 15 minutes.

The ubiquitous radio has a special role for farmers in Arusha, Tanzania. Sarika Bansal writes in a piece for The New York Times that in sub-Saharan Africa, four times as many farmers have access to the radio as to cell phones and they are putting them to good use.
